Watch Me (Private Listing #1)

Madison looks between the two of us. “He saved me. He’s never hurt me.”

She squeezes my hand. Her bright blue eyes meet mine. She believes in me. Not that I’ve given her reason not to, but I definitely haven’t been as warm to her as the others.

The doctor nods and makes some notes. The nurse comes around the curtain.

“There are three guys out there claiming to be family.” Her eyes bounce between me and Madison.

Madison nods, and a smile lights her face. “They are.”

Something inside me falls into place. The doctor finishes, and the nurse comes back with Seth, Noah, and Cooper.

Noah brushes her hair away from her forehead and presses a kiss to it. “I’ve never been so scared in my life. How are you?”

Cooper takes her other hand. Seth stands at her feet and stares into her eyes.

“You’re coming home with us,” Seth says in his no one argues with me voice.

Nodding, Madison rests her head back against the pillow and closes her eyes. We all exchange looks. This one is already embedded in us. If she fucks us over, it could tear us apart.

Chapter 17

Home?

Seth

The police station is still busy at this time of night. A female detective led Madison back to a room to discuss the incident.

We sit in a waiting area with old coffee. Blake has connections at this station, so we’re not in the normal area with everyone else.

Blake presses his hands against his eyes.

“The apartment is secure,” Coop reads from his phone. “We called in one of our security guards who’s been wanting overtime, and I arranged for a company to take over in the morning.”

“This shouldn’t have happened.” Noah rubs his hand over his blond hair, and his gaze strays to the door Madison is behind.

“No, it shouldn’t have.” Blake stands and paces like a caged tiger.

I glance at my phone and pull up the report on Valerie Davis and Jeff Moore. It’s not a lot yet. I’ll have more by the morning. I need them to pay.

“How are we going to work this when we get home?” Noah’s dark eyes meet mine.

Coop looks up from his phone and Blake stops pacing. I’m not taking back what I told Madison. She’s not leaving our sight. But it won’t be easy.

“It’s early.” I blow out my breath. “The optics aren’t going to be good.”

“Fuck the optics.” Coop runs his hands over his jeans.

I shake my head. Out of everyone, he knows best that we can’t ignore what might get out.

“She’s hurt.” I decide to focus on Madison. “Tonight she comes to our apartment. She’s moving in. That means someone needs to arrange for her stuff to be packed and brought over, because she’s not going back.”

“I’m on it.” Blake crosses his arms and waits for more.

“We need extra security on the building. We don’t know what kind of people we’re dealing with yet.” I run a hand through my hair.

“He was high. They both probably were.” Blake narrows his gaze.

People on drugs are more unpredictable. “If that’s the case, they probably have a record, which means it might be easier to find them.”
