“I don’t mean to interrupt.” Her gaze skates over Sebastian before she looks back at me. “Madison says you have a meeting in a few minutes and that you haven’t replied to her texts.”
I pat my empty pocket. “Forgot my phone. Tell her I’ll be up in a few.”
“Of course.” Hope backs out with her eyes on the floor.
When I turn back to Sebastian, his gaze lingers on the door with a contemplative look.
This back-and-forth game could go on for a while, but I need to get results. “How much for what you know?”
Chapter 141
Breakthrough
Coop
Madison walks into the break room and over to the coffee. My gaze doesn’t follow her though. I keep it trained on Patrick. All week I’ve been watching him, looking for hints that he might have more than a passing interest in our girl.
Noah told us at the benefit Patrick was in the hallway to meet some woman when Madison was attacked. He seems happily married to Anna, but we don’t know the inner workings of their relationship. It isn’t hard to imagine someone having an affair. After all, I’ve been to plenty of those parties where guests disappear with someone other than their significant other.
Could Patrick want Madison?
When Patrick doesn’t turn to look at her but keeps working, I rise and go over to Madison. Maybe he doesn’t. Maybe he knows she’s mine and is being respectful.
The stalker is smart and rich, but Patrick doesn’t seem to be passionate about anything. Him being the stalker could be a stretch.
When I touch Madison’s back, her startled blue eyes dart to me before she relaxes.
“Coop,” she says quietly. Her gaze flicks over to Patrick. His head is bent over his laptop as his fingers click on the keyboard.
“How are you today?” I reach out and tuck a tendril behind her ear. Her eyes darken before she fills her coffee cup. I can’t decide if I like her being mad at the other two or not. After all, that means she’s been all mine and Noah’s the past few nights.
“I’m good.” Her eyes twinkle when they meet mine.
Smirking, I lower my head until my lips brush her ear. “Have you been a naughty little whore?”
She places a hand on my shoulder, holding me back. “Later, Coop.”
I straighten and look over at Patrick. Fuck. If he weren’t here, I’d lift her onto the counter and spread her legs. I’d fuck her with my fingers to find out if someone came inside her before adding my own to the mix.
I blow out a frustrated breath. Tomorrow, we go to lunch with the honey trap. Hopefully, that will solve one of our problems. And Patrick won’t be in our offices anymore after next week. Allowing me full access to my assistant again.
Madison rises on her toes and kisses my jawline. “See you later.”
I turn as she leaves. Her hips sway and I want to follow her, drag her into my office, and spend an hour doing naughty things to her.
My phone buzzes on the table. I take my seat and look at the text.
Theo:
We have a live one.
“Will you excuse me, Patrick? I need to take a call in my office.”
Patrick waves his hand at me briefly, not even bothering to lift his eyes from his work. He’s always consumed by his work. When I walk into the main office area, Madison sits at her desk. She lifts her gaze to me and I give her a smile as I pass her.
Once in my office, I shut my door and call Theo.
“What’s happening?” Sitting behind my desk, I stare at the door. I’m eager to put this all behind us.
