Boss Me (Private Listing #3)

“You won’t tell me what it is?” I cross my legs, and his heated gaze tracks my movement. A pulse of desire races through me.

“I don’t want to ruin the surprise. I know your limits, goddess. I’ll stay well within them.” The sparkle in his blue eyes intrigues me.

I definitely want to play. Role-play, besides the one night with Noah and Coop, hasn’t really been a thing. And I really enjoyed it that night.

“After work?” I arch an eyebrow. “Just us?”

His smile grows wide. His eyes sparkle with a dark light that sets my pulse fluttering. “After work. Just us.”

Coop

“Any common variables?” Seth leans back in his chair.

We’ve been going over files for hours, each of us taking a stack. Madison and Noah cleaned up our dinner leftovers hours ago. Glancing at my watch, I notice Madison stifling a yawn.

I glare at Noah. He kept her up late, and it better not fuck up my night with her.

Noah’s barely paying attention, so he doesn’t notice my glare. He’s probably just as tired as she is. Madison’s gaze lifts to mine. She wets her lips as her eyes drop to my mouth. A pulse of heat goes through me. Maybe we won’t get to play long, but we’ll definitely get to play.

“Medium-sized companies that may not make a huge difference to our bottom line.” Madison stretches as she says it. Her breasts press against her dress. I’m more of an ass man while Noah is the breast guy, but I still love them. Soft and supple.

Of course, everything about Madison is fantastic.

“It’s not much to go on, but it’s a start.” Seth runs a hand through his hair. “Do we think there’s a link between Madison’s stalker and the corporate spy?”

“You know how I feel about coincidences,” Blake says. His sleeves are rolled up, showing his forearms. No matter how many weights I lift, I can’t get big like Blake does, but my arms aren’t exactly small.

“The simplest answer is usually the solution?” Madison asks. “We believe multiple people are working together on the corporate espionage. But we only believe one person is behind the stalking.”

“The stalking is personal, and so is this. But the targets are different.” Seth shakes his head and puts his hands on the conference table. “We know Madison’s stalker has been watching her, maybe since she arrived in New York. We also know the corporate spy has been working on our clients for a few years. That means it’s likely two separate entities, because Madison just entered our lives.”

“We can only bait one trap at a time.” I fold my hands behind my head and look around at the other tired faces. “We need to either locate or create a medium-sized company for our spy to contact. I’ve got some equipment that may track them down. Theo is the fastest hacker I have.”

“Can we trust him?”

Seth’s words give me pause. That’s part of the problem with both situations. Who do you trust? Who can you trust? Someone we already put our trust in is working against us.

“I’ve known him for years. Yes, in this case, I think we can trust him.” I lean my elbows on the table. “My equipment is good enough that we’ll get a location and maybe a number. But with Theo, I’m confident he can get even more information.”

Theo liked to hack as a teen. His computer skills are top-notch, and he’s never let me down. Plus, as far as I know, he’s happy with his career track and Morrigan Technologies.

“We have a list of current employees on the suspect list,” Blake says. “As well as a list of former employees. There’s not a long list of people who would be mad specifically at us. So we’ve narrowed the list to a few employees who were fired. And of course Andrea.”

That bitch just never seems to go away. That was a fucking mess.

“What about Courtney?” Madison leans forward. “Hope said she wanted my job, but you guys keep passing her up.”

“She was friends with Andrea.” Blake rubs his jaw. “She’s been on the list since day one, honestly. She does her job, but she seems disgruntled.”

“If she wants to work with us so badly, why would she sabotage the company?” Noah lifts his gaze from his computer and looks around. “She hasn’t been on every job that got the call. But she’s definitely a possibility.”

“Have you worked out your suspect list, princess?” Seth’s tone softens when he speaks to Madison.

“I’ve been working on it.” She looks down at her hands. “But no one really stands out. Professor Alan made sense. I ignored his advances. He knew me from school. He had some opportunity. But this person had access to me before. My school, my apartment, even here.”

Her eyes flash up to mine. I wish there was something I could do. But my money only goes so far. There just isn’t enough evidence. Besides, she’s safe here with us.

“Val and Jeff haven’t reemerged.” She shakes her head and then stops. “Fuck, Robert.”
