Chapter 116
Strategic Planning
Madison
Lunch was pleasant and the afternoon was busy. So busy I barely saw the guys. They didn’t really leave their offices until the executive meeting.
I’m finishing the final setup in the conference room when Seth comes in. He runs a discerning eye over my outfit for the day. It almost feels like he can see every piece he set out for me.
“How are you after last night?” Seth sits at the head of the table and pulls the tablet I set up for him over.
I fill the glasses on the table from the water pitcher. “Good.”
“We weren’t too rough?”
I lift my gaze to his curious blue eyes. “No, sir.”
There’s a slight twitch of his lips at that. I give him a small smile.
“Do you want me to stay and take notes this time?” I pause beside the chair I would use. They don’t always need me in the Wednesday meetings. Most of the time it’s just catching each other up.
“Yes.” Seth gestures to the seat. “Please.”
Sitting down, I open my tablet and bring up a notepad. Blake notices me when he comes in and sits next to Seth. Noah and Coop come in together. Both give me a smirk that makes my blood boil and my face hot.
As soon as everyone sits, Seth clears his throat. “We’ve gotten nowhere on the corporate spy. Every lead sends us down another rabbit hole. Sometimes the potential client receives a text or email. Other times it’s an anonymous call. Sometimes a man and sometimes a woman.”
“We’ve been looking at collusion.” Blake leans back in his chair and looks over everyone. “But that makes it easier for the perpetrators to cover for each other.”
“What about a honey trap?” Coop looks at me with a glint in his eyes when he says that.
I lift an eyebrow at him.
He smiles slowly. “Not an actual honey trap, but get a fake client in to see if someone calls them.”
Seth leans his elbows on the table. “It’s not a bad idea. It might give us more information if nothing else. Jason Harper gave us everything he gleaned from the person who contacted him. No one else has offered more, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t contacted.”
“Are there any similarities in the companies they do contact?” I sit back and tap my pen against my pad. “There has to be some correlation or they would contact everyone.”
Noah smiles. “Madison’s right. If we can find a correlation, it would help us set up the perfect honey trap. If they don’t have a system, it won’t matter because if they contact everyone, they’ll still contact our honey trap. But it will make sure they target the right one.”
A little burst of pride glows from my insides. I love being part of this team. I love the sex, but it’s not just about that. Each of these men gets me. They understand that I’m as driven as they are.
The rest of the meeting goes smoothly.
“Princess, order us some dinner tonight. We’ll be working late.” Seth meets my eyes and I nod.
“Of course.” I head to my desk to pull up the online ordering and get the guys their usual from the restaurant downstairs. I just hit send when I notice someone behind me.
“Just because we have work tonight doesn’t mean we can’t play, sweetheart.” Coop’s voice is dark in my ear, sending thrills through me.
I don’t turn as his hands massage my tense shoulders. Shivers race through me. “What did you have in mind?”
“After we finish our work and everyone goes downstairs for the night, I’ve left you an outfit on my bed to change into.” Coop’s lips brush my ear, sending sparks through my veins that make me weak as he whispers. “We’ll play out a little fantasy of mine.”
Desire pools hot and heavy in my stomach, but I draw in a deep breath. “What if I don’t want to play?”
Coop’s hands lift from me, taking his warmth with him. When I spin around in my chair, he’s leaning against the wall. “We don’t have to play if you don’t want to, sweetheart.”
