Wreck Me (Corrupt Legacy Series #2)

When I’m almost there, I pull out and erupt all over my hand and her stomach. Breathing heavily, I need a few moments to recover.

She dips a finger into our joined releases and brings it to her mouth. Sucking it, she watches me.

A low groan vibrates in my throat. “How do we taste?”

“Delicious.”

She offers me a bit to taste too, and I lick her clean.

“We do, indeed.”

I snatch some tissues from my glovebox, and after I clean us up, she cuddles into me.

We watch the rain strike the windshield, and I ask, “Are you still up for learning how to race?”

“Really?”

Her excitement is addictive. She could obliterate me, and I’d take it because being with her makes my life not just bearable, but worth living.

“You’re going to go back to racing, and I’m going to cheer you on every time, knowing no one is better than you.”

“You know how to turn me on. And this is my promise: I’ll win every race for you.”

“But you’ll be safe, yes? Swear it to me.”

“I swear to you because I have a reason, and that is to come back to you.”

“I’ll take that.”

This moment carries a sacred vow. One I fully intend to keep.

She glances outside where the rain streams down harder, lashing at the windshield. “Tomorrow?”

“Now.”

“But—”

“You have to race through all weather. My girl is brave, isn’t she?”

She offers a small nod. “You make me want to be brave.”

“And you make me want to live.”

My heart is out in the open. It’s hers, but I hope and pray—for the first fucking time—that she cherishes that and won’t stomp all over it.

After we get dressed, we switch seats, and I explain to her how to work a stick. Her grunts of frustration are sweet as she shifts through the speeds.

“Feel the engine under you, how it rolls. It tells you when to switch.”

The engine revs so hard, going into overdrive. “That’s what we don’t want to happen. That was too much.”

“I think I got that.”

“Good. Easy there. Now, at the same time, you have to take your foot off the brake and accelerate gently.”

She does that too fast, and the car spurts, propelling her forward only to come to an abrupt stop, stalling out.

A sigh parts her lips, but then she restarts the engine, focusing.
