Wreck Me (Corrupt Legacy Series #2)

“Yes, well, it’s not as if it makes a difference. I can’t be there right now and witness Mia and Bailey’s attempt at small talk.” Or better said, keep the frail peace between us.

We drive toward the cliff and see two cars—both familiar, belonging to the two people who turned from our dreams to our regrets.

Driving aimlessly has kept my fragile sanity in check, yet I always end up at the cliff. There is something soothing about this place. I am meeting with Celine who looks deep in thought.

We sit in silence, watching the waves crash into the rocks, like my hurt into my chest—constantly. I like Celine’s company. We understand each other, but I guess when you share similar pain, it’s easy to connect.

When a car approaches, we both look toward the headlights. It’s a black BMW M8 coupe, and behind the windshield are Kaden and Abigail together.

“I can’t even have a minute to myself without them in my face,” she sighs.

“You have excellent company.”

We both chuckle, but the sound is broken like our hearts.

Kaden and Abigail get out of the car, presenting the harmony that will cause my mind to break into insanity.

“Your boyfriend is looking for you,” Kaden says low.

Celine tenses while I groan low in my throat when he puts an arm over Abigail’s shoulder. I snap my head at them, inhaling gasoline and expelling fire.

“Hunter’s not my keeper,” Celine replies.

“Hmm. This one is known for taking girls who are not his.”

I try to stay calm, but the asshole keeps antagonizing me.

Celine whispers in my ear, “I want to test something.”

I nod, and she places her hand on my chest and leans in to kiss me. Let’s see if this is what you want, me with someone else.

Abigail gasps, but Kaden reacts first. Before our lips can touch, Kaden’s on me. He pushes me back and drives his fist into my jaw, sending me to the ground, but I recover quickly. Spitting blood, I jump up and go after him. Abigail shrieks, pulling him back. Always trying to fucking protect him. This fight is long overdue.

Celine yells, “Stop!”

I punch him in the corner of his eye, and Kaden takes a step back. Celine lets out a deafening scream when he loses his footing and falls back into the abyss. Celine, Abigail, and I rush toward the edge, and of course, the asshole survives, clinging to some branches.

Celine grips his arm, holding it tightly.

“You can’t pull me up,” he says.

I hope she can’t.

“Don’t even think of letting go…” She looks at Abigail for help, and that pushes her to action.

“Just keep holding him,” she tells her.

“No problem, sweetheart. If he falls, I will console you with my dick,” I grumble, searching for something to drag the asshole up. Look at me saving her fiancé. Fuck my luck.

Opening the trunk of my car, I return with a rope. Throwing it at him, I help pull him up. When he’s back from the near-death experience, he comforts Celine, and she punches him in the shoulder.

I knew why I liked this girl.

Abigail screeches. “Are you out of your damn mind?”

“Easy there, sweetheart. He asked for it.”

“You two… you are like two deer flashing your Bambi eyes, filled with abandonment issues, when you have no idea what it cost—”
