Wolfsfoot (Kingdom of Wolves #1)

My mind is running through what I could say regarding this, but the only solution I can see is to move some of our patrols to that side ofthe territory. It would leave us open to attack from other packs and the areawhere no-man’s-land joins.

I decide it’s really not my place to say what happens, asthis is too personal to me. I place it as the most urgent thing that needs thecouncil’s attention. But I also thank the fact the rogues in town do work topatrol and keep everyone safe.

Many rogue towns across the land only look after themselvesand the territory that’s been left for them to roam on, which has never createda type of pack environment. They all live alone, fight, steal, and kill. It’sthe reason many packs won’t have a rogue near their packs and kill them onsight.

I place the sheet on the urgent pile and continue workingthrough the remainder, some of which are months old, but not important. Lookingup when Agnes asks if I’ve done as it’s lunchtime, I smile and place the pilesin order of importance and hand them over to her.

“Thank you, Tati. I know it’s been a messy job for you, butI’ve just not had the time to get to most of them. I pick off the urgent andnever seem to get back to the rest.”

“It’s okay, there was only one that was urgent, and I thinkyou’ll probably want to look at it quickly. Otherwise, the rest is fairlysimple to deal with, well, I think.” I laugh a little because here I am tellinga council member what I think.

We walk over to the diner across the street and pick up apastry before quickly eating and getting back to work. Agnes checks the urgentand looks over at me where she has me reading all the information on the SpiritWalker Pack.

“You’re right. We need to do something about this quickly.I’ll speak to the other council members if you can continue reading thatinformation. If you finish before I come back continue to read about the othersurrounding packs.”

I give Agnes a smile and continue reading. It’s all prettyboring if truths are told. Just the general history of the Spirit Walkerdescendants, how the pack originated, and who leads it now.

Hearing a throat clear, I look up and smile at AlphaBlueblood. The Alpha of the Eclipse pack I met at the border with Gregor.

“Hello, Alpha Blueblood.” Giving him a broad smile onceagain.

“It’s nice to see you, Tatiana. Are they looking after youwell?” His deep voice asks.

“Oh yes, the people here have been kind. Well, apart from asmall few, but that’s sorted out now, I hope.” I don’t know why the heck I saidthat, because it was stupid to let him know anything that happens here.

“If you ever need me, you call or turn up. I meant it when Isaid you could come to us at any time.”

“Thank you. I like it here, and I’ve Poppa Lykos and MommaAkela now. It’s been a long time since I had parents and I already love themboth.”

“That’s great to hear. I knew your grandparents and parents. They were good shifters, with good wolves.”

We both turn when we hear someone walking towards theoffice. Thomas the mayor walks in and gives the Alpha a strange look before hecomposes himself. “What can we do for you, Alpha Blueblood?”

“Well, it’s what can I do for you. I need to speak to youabout border security.”

I can tell the Alpha wants to speak without my overhearing,so I smile and step toward the door. “I’ll get off home early as I’ve sometraining with Drake later. I’ve also got to find a birthday gift for Brod, ashe’s having a party on Wednesday.”

“Okay, be careful and aware, Tatiana,” Thomas says and leadsthe Alpha toward his office.

Alpha Blueblood turns just before he walks out the door.“Tatiana, I hear the Alpha of Blackshadow is starting to worry. You’ve beenhere six months now, and he’s wanting to get his hands on you. Be very carefuland take your training seriously. If you ever need my pack, you call.”

“Thank you, Alpha Blueblood,” I respond and he gives me asmall nod before following Thomas.

My training session with Drake goes well, and he’s impressedwith how Ebony has grown and how fast she is. I’ve gotten faster and I’ve beenpracticing bringing out just my claws, which was difficult to start with, asone would pop out, or just three. It took a while for me to do either just myindex finger, or the whole hand.

Drake always laughs at my efforts but gives me a pat on theshoulder when I show him how I can bring out one claw at a time until my handhas all claws out.

Ebony gets to run through the forest with Polaris, whoconstantly tests her speed and agility.

This is such fun, and we are fast.

‘We are Ebony, and I hope if we ever have to run for ourlives, we’ll be faster than anyone else.’

I’m bigger now, Tati. I’ve grown a lot and if you see I’monly a little smaller than Polaris now, it shows us as an Alpha female.

‘I suppose it does. I never thought about it. I can askPoppa Lykos about it if you think it’s important?’

I don’t think it is important, it’s just how it is. I canspeak with Troy if I think I need to ask questions about my growth.
