He takes his time as he dries off every inch of me. A fully clothed Cooper helps me dress, though he keeps my panties. I feel like I’m in a daze, but I also feel warm and cared for by these men.
“Ready to go home?” Cooper asks.
I bite my lip. I kind of hoped to just stay here, but I don’t say that. This is all new and maybe space is what we need. For me, that was epic, but for them, it could have been the same thing they did with all of their assistants.
Shaking that thought out of my head, I nod. I can’t keep comparing myself to those women or I’ll drive myself crazy. They aren’t here. I am.
Cooper leads me to the garage. I’m still in a sex haze as we get into the black car with Tim. The divider comes up and Cooper tips my face up to his.
“You feel good, sweetheart?”
“Yes.” So fucking good.
He steals kisses from me until the car stops. Then he opens the door and walks me to my apartment. “See you on Monday.”
Fuck, two days without them. His fingers linger in my hand as I pull away to unlock the building door. I let myself in and watch Cooper ride off.
Robert doesn’t bother me in the hallway tonight. After the sex I just had, I consider it a blessing as I start to unlock my door. I just want to put on pajamas and snuggle into a blanket and remember everything that just happened.
The door swings open and Valerie grins. “Hello, roomie.”
Chapter 16
Cuts Deep
Madison
I almost step back from surprise, but I’m exhausted and walk into the apartment. “Hey, I just paid your half of the rent.”
The door shuts, and I hear the lock snick into place. I turn to see Valerie leaning against the door, a sneer on her face.
“Color me surprised when I found that out.” Valerie is taller than me by a few inches. Maybe five-eight? Her dark hair flows down her back, and her dark eyes pin me in place. “Where’d you get the sudden influx of wealth to afford my rent?”
She takes in my clothes when I don’t answer. I don’t owe her any explanation. I just want to crawl into my bed and dream of my bosses. Relive each moment when they caressed and fucked me.
“You take up turning tricks to make a living?” She laughs. “I highly doubt you have the balls to do that. So come on. Where’s the money coming from?”
“It’s called a job.” I walk farther into the apartment and pick up a few things I left out last night to take into my room with me. I installed a lock on my door after the first time I met Valerie’s boyfriend. He looked at me in a way I didn’t like. Not like Hunter does, but in a considering way. Like he could get something from me. Use me for something.
“Whoa, there, roomie.” Valerie’s voice makes me turn back to her before I can disappear into my room. “You and I need to have a little chat.”
“I don’t think?—”
The door to my bedroom opens behind me, and her boyfriend Jeff steps out. What the fuck!
I back away from him, suddenly aware that I’m not wearing any panties. “What were you doing in my bedroom?”
“Checking things out.” Jeff scratches the scruff on his chin. “Lots of interesting new things in there. Expensive shit.”
Icy hands grip my heart as I try to figure a way out of this. I have no idea what these two will do to me, and I really don’t want to find out. They aren’t exactly being friendly. Not that they ever were. But they always left me alone. Ignored me.
“Seems like someone has been on a shopping spree.” Valerie closes in.
I go to walk around her to the door, but rough hands grab my upper arms, squeezing painfully and holding me in place. My heart clenches alarmingly. My breath catches in my throat along with the scream I can feel welling inside me.
“So tell us, little Madison, where’d you get all the dough so fast? Last week you were barely surviving on ramen noodles. Now you look like some rich bitch.” Valerie sneers as she grabs the sleeve of my dress.
I’m all alone with them. They have full control of this situation. Maybe I can get to the door. Maybe I can escape. But more likely, I’ll just end up another casualty of this city. Another no-name person murdered and not even mentioned on the news.
