“I’ll be right back.” I inhale deeply when I leave the conference room. This is going to be a test of my willpower. I make sure Hunter hasn’t followed me before disappearing down the hall to the break room.
When I return with the coffee, the guys have all joined William and Hunter. I pass out the cups and then take my seat beside Cooper to take notes on the tablet he showed me how to use this morning.
Seth glances my way to make sure I’m ready. When I nod, the meeting starts. Blake gives the presentation, discussing all the things they would need to do to make sure Taylor’s network is secure and their data safe. Then he gives the breakdown of how we would go about implementing the system.
“These teams,” Hunter interrupts, “they’d have to come out to our offices and do work, correct?”
Blake’s face remains impassive as he studies Hunter for a moment before answering. “Yes.”
Hunter smiles like the prick he is and almost puts his hands together like an evil villain when he says, “I hope Maddy will be on that team. It would be good to have her in our offices again.”
My stomach clenches violently, and I almost feel ill at the clear amusement on Hunter’s face.
“Yes, that’s a great idea, Hunter.” William practically beams at everyone. “Madison is an asset to any team. I’m sure in a few weeks she’ll be all caught up to speed and able to at least shadow the team.”
Blake clears his throat, and I wonder if he is going to say no.
“It’s a possibility,” Seth says before Blake can say anything.
My heart drops to my stomach, and I can feel the color drain from my face. There are too many opportunities to get me alone in that office, and Hunter would definitely be on me the entire time. I got lucky last time when someone interrupted him in the copy room. I’m sure he wouldn’t allow that to happen if he got another chance.
“We’ll see if she has the time,” Blake says before continuing with the presentation.
After a few moments, my heart returns to normal and I can breathe a little easier. Cooper stands to take William and Hunter on a brief tour of the facility. Seth and Noah head into their offices while Blake hangs back with me.
I don’t want to talk more about Hunter. So I gather up my things and take them to my desk. When I return, Blake comes over to me, so close my breasts brush his chest with my inhale.
“Rule one of being ours is that you are only ours.” Blake takes ahold of my chin and tips my face toward his.
I don’t fight him. I don’t want to. His hands on me feel way too good. And I can’t help but wonder how he’ll taste. I don’t want to be anyone else’s.
“Do you understand?” He raises an eyebrow, and I focus on his impossibly green eyes.
I lick my suddenly dry lips. “Yes, sir.”
His face softens, but he doesn’t smile. His thumb rubs across my lower lip. “Do you want to be ours, tiger?”
A wave of desire floods my system. I touch the tip of his thumb with my tongue. His eyes darken. “Yes.”
He nods and backs away, leaving me there alone with a fire raging through me. My panties are damp, and I want to beg him to finish what he started earlier. Bend me over the table again and this time, fuck me. Hard.
I try to shake the lust off as I grab the coffee mugs and head into the break room.
“So this is where you hide.” Hunter’s voice behind me makes me drop the coffee cup in my hand onto the tile. It shatters into a million pieces just like my nerves.
I spin and hold my hands out to ward him off. Hunter smiles at me like I’m prey and he has me cornered once again. Why does this keep happening? Where are Cooper and William?
He’s blocking the escape route.
“You shouldn’t be back here, Hunter.” I keep my tone firm and loud, hoping someone is nearby. Praying for someone to save me.
“You shouldn’t be working here, little bird.” He reaches out, grabs my hand, and yanks me toward him.
I stumble but duck to get away from him. Hunter chuckles like this is a game. I can’t call out for help. Blake would assume that I want this. That I want Hunter. Hunter would make it sound like I came on to him and then cried for help because I like to be caught. The fucker.
“Let go of my hand.” I try to maintain a calm tone, but the edge of panic is there. Cooper can’t be far, right?
Grinning maniacally, he tries to reel me in, but I keep my arm braced and pull to get away. “Come on, Maddy. This game is fun. I love a good chase, but you know you want me.”
