I slide my phone over to him and stand to go dump my oversteeped tea out in the sink before preparing a fresh cup. “Do you want some tea?”
Seth glances at me from my phone. Shaking his head, he returns to reading through the messages. I get my tea prepared and sit next to him. Resting my head on his shoulder, I’m glad I don’t have to withhold my affection from any of them.
I need them, but what if the stalker takes this further?
“We should wake the others.” Seth sets my phone down.
I grab his arm when he tenses to rise. “Not yet. Let them sleep. There’s nothing any of us can do about this until the morning.”
“That picture… How did they get in the play room?” Seth opens the picture, studying it.
“Pretty sure it’s a still from the video we took.” I sigh and drink my tea.
“Fuck.” He’s not raging. He’s calm about this. I need that right now. I need him.
“How would he have gotten access to the video?” I ask, feeling surprisingly calm given the stalker has pictures of me having sex with multiple men and sent one to my new friends. But it’s three in the morning. I’m wiped out but not tired enough to fall asleep.
We’ve eliminated a few threats to our relationships and livelihoods, but the stalker and the corporate spy are still out there.
“It’s possible they got it when we watched it.” Seth runs a hand over his hair. His gaze goes to the walls surrounding the TV. “Took a picture of the screen.”
Cameras are so small now that it’s possible we missed one. “I just want this to be over. I want to get through this rough stuff and start living again.”
A tear rolls down my cheek. I’m just done with it.
“I don’t want to worry about this guy or girl or group.” I lift my head from Seth’s shoulder and turn to face him. “Our lives are on hold. I want to say fuck it and move far away from here where no one can ever find us.”
Seth captures my face in his hands and smooths the tear over my cheek with his thumb. “If I thought it would stop them, I’d book us a jet. I’d leave all of this behind and start over again as long as we could be together.”
I wish I could say let’s do it. Run away and start over. The five of us.
But that’s not realistic. At some point we have to face what’s coming. We need to find out who is fucking with our lives.
“Do you think they’re the same person? The stalker and the corporate spy?” I search his eyes, hoping he has an answer, even a theory. Somewhere to start.
“I don’t know. They may be working together or have something in common, but the spy is trying to take us down, and the stalker wants you, princess. They both were working toward their goals before we even met.”
“We just didn’t know about either until after we met.” I release a frustrated breath. “There’s got to be overlap somewhere.”
Too many coincidences.
“I’ll have Blake give his guy a call in the morning. This is one more thing pointing to the stalker escalating.” Seth draws me in for a hug. I rest my head over his heart.
“I need to tell my friends what’s going on,” I say softly.
“Yes, you should since the stalker sought them out.” Seth rubs my back. “Have them over later today. Tell them whatever you want to. I trust your judgment. They’re good women.”
“What about the NDA?”
“I’ll make a note that I gave you permission.” Seth waits until I meet his eyes. “But the NDA doesn’t really apply anymore. The whole contract was a way to hold us apart. That’s done with. You’re ours, princess. We aren’t going anywhere and neither are you. We should discuss it with the others, but we should nullify both the contract and the NDA.”
I tip my head back to look into his eyes, and all I see is his trust and love in me shining back.
