It doesn’t matter though because I couldn’t leave Seth, Noah, Coop, or Blake behind.
I can’t get away from this person. We need to figure out who it is. Otherwise, at some point, he’ll pounce and I won’t be ready. I don’t even really understand what he wants from me.
“Princess?” Seth’s voice cuts through the fog and I turn to him. His furrowed brow makes me focus on him.
“Yes?” I lift my trembling hands onto the table. I stare at them. When did that start? The shaking is weird.
Noah takes my hand between his and rubs it. Am I cold? Blake’s hand squeezes my shoulder. Awareness blankets me. As I slam back to the here and now, I suck in a breath.
“You still with us?” Seth leans forward.
“Yes, I’m here.” I shut all the fear and confusion in a box in my mind. I’m giving the stalker what he wants. He wants me to feel his presence everywhere. He’s not here though. Not when I’m with these men. They’re my safety. I need to focus on them. “What are we talking about?”
My gaze flits to each of their concerned looks. I squeeze Noah’s hand.
“This isn’t the first time he’s mentioned Coop.” Seth blows out an exhausted breath.
What? My eyes widen as I meet Coop’s light blue eyes. Did the stalker threaten him? When?
“The bottom of the dress box had that exact picture of us with a note on it.” Coop runs his fingers through his hair. “Something about ‘don’t play with the boys.’”
What if the stalker goes after Coop? What if all of them are in danger too? What if he already knows about our arrangement?
“Does he know about us?” I swallow. “All of us?”
Only my and Coop’s voices were on the audio recording the stalker sent when I was at the bar, but we don’t know how much more he heard in the conference room audio, and there’s obviously more than one man in that recording when they were all fucking me.
“It’s possible the stalker knows everything.” Seth takes a deep breath. “He’s got someone new taking pictures for him now.”
Blake settles into a chair. “What do you mean?”
“Talked with Cross today about Elizabeth. She is fucking someone. But I also asked him if someone offered a contract on Madison or if anyone approached him about it.” Seth picks up his fork, looking at his food like he isn’t really seeing it. “He didn’t take the job, but it exists. Whoever wanted those pictures will pay a lot of money for them.”
“So the person taking the pictures is hired like Val and might never have had any previous contact with Madison.” Noah shakes his head. “This is fucked-up. He could be anyone. The man Val interacted with might not even be the stalker, but someone the stalker hired. It could be a woman or multiple people. We basically know nothing.”
I squeeze Noah’s hand. But he’s right. If this person is hiring people to follow me, I’ll never know who they are.
“Who’s Elizabitch sleeping with?” Coop sets my phone to the side and leans his elbows on the table.
“Drew Young.”
Coop laughs harshly. “Fuck, that’s precious.”
“Who’s Drew Young?” I’m just grateful to steer the conversation away from the stalker. I could use something else to focus on, and getting rid of Elizabeth’s hold on Seth is a high priority.
“Leighton’s benefit date. Wonder if Elizabeth’s doing it intentionally to get back at Leighton? But honestly, Leighton didn’t seem that into the guy.” Coop shakes his head and drops his gaze to the table. His fists clench. “Leighton’s been fucking up my life with my mother. That’s why Victoria came to see me today. I vote we fuck up both Leighton’s and Elizabeth’s lives.”
“What do you have in mind?” Seth sets his fork down.
“A casual get-together.” Coop’s smile turns wicked. “Just a few couples having dinner out on the town.”
“I could bring Sara to round things out.” Noah draws me into his side. I sink into his warmth. Sara’s a good idea. I could use a friend when facing down the two women who held my men’s hearts.
I don’t need to worry about Noah. Not with Sara, not with anyone else. Noah is my home, my center.
“We’ll plan for Saturday night. It shouldn’t be a problem getting Elizabeth to go. She’s been calling and texting me all week.” Seth’s stony gaze meets mine. “If you’re okay with it, princess?”
“If this works to make those women leave us alone, I’m all for it.” I reach for my water, wishing it was something stronger. My insides feel all tangled up. I don’t know if I’m ready to confront their exes any more than I’m prepared to confront my stalker.
