Tease Me (Private Listing #4)

The guy’s gaze lifts and his eyes widen. His step falters. He just stops and then, giving us an apologetic look, he turns and heads back to his table.

“That was weird.” I turn around on the bar stool and Jason stands behind Hope, cracking his knuckles. I laugh. Jason winks at me before he picks up the bar rag to wipe down the counter.

“Fuck. And I thought my brother was bad.” Sara shakes her head. “That guy totally would have hit on all three of us, but one look at your brother and he slunk back to his sad corner.”

My phone buzzes again, and I turn it over.

Unknown:

You aren’t curious, little one?

Go Back and Sharpen Your Pencils

Fuck. Am I curious? Yes. Do I want to ruin my evening with whatever game my stalker is playing now? Not really.

Sara and Hope are comparing notes about their brothers. As an only child, I really have nothing to contribute.

What’s the worst my stalker could send me? He’s already sent pictures of me around town. Me naked and masturbating in my shower. An old dress. I can’t think of anything worse that he can send me on my phone.

I don’t even have a bunny he can boil.

Fuck it.

I unlock my screen and click on the message. A picture of Blake and me walking to the bar opens. It’s definitely from tonight. The second is an audio recording I’ll have to listen to later when it’s not so noisy, and most likely with the guys. And another picture of me at the bar with Sara.

As I’m looking, another picture arrives. It’s me at the bar looking at my phone with Sara and Hope still talking.

My insides go cold.

He’s here.

He’s right here.

I can’t turn around. I copy the photo and send it to Blake. My gaze finds him and I wait until he looks at his phone. His face goes stony as he stands and scans the bar. Jason leans over to ask him something. Blake shows him the phone. Jason looks around the room.

My heart thuds in my ears, heavy. I don’t want to look. I don’t want to know.

“You okay?”

I lift my head to tell Hope I’m fine, but it would just be another lie. Both her and Sara are concerned. I hold out my phone so they can see the picture.

“Fuck,” Hope breathes and turns to check out behind us.

“Stalker?” Sara takes my hand. I squeeze her hand back. It’s good to know I’m not alone.

I nod and swallow. I still haven’t turned around, but if anyone should recognize him, it would be me. This person has made it his mission to follow me and catch me unaware, but at some point, he had to be part of my life. I must have seen or talked to him at least once. Right?

Otherwise, why?

Taking a breath, I turn and face the direction the picture was taken from. The bar is dimly lit and there are tons of people moving about. No one looks familiar. No one appears to be looking my way.

“That’s it.” Blake’s voice is in my ear as his hand captures my elbow. I almost sag with relief at his warmth surrounding me. “We’re getting out of here. A car is waiting. Tell your friends. We aren’t leaving anyone behind.”

I turn to Hope and Sara. “We have a car outside. We should go.”
