Tease Me (Private Listing #4)

When I rush out the door, I slam into Robert. He grabs my arms to steady me.

“Madison?” He releases me. “What’s going on?”

I shake my head. “I need to go. Now.”

“Are you okay?” His concern makes the tears flow harder. The guys know my number on the other phone, but not this one.

“Tell Blake that I’m following the instructions. I don’t know where they’ll lead, but I have to go.”

“Madison. How can I help?” His brown eyes hold mine. This guy has watched out for me since day one. He may have liked me more than I liked him, but I know he isn’t the stalker.

“Do you have your phone?” My whisper is barely more than a breath. I don’t have a lot of time. After opening the new phone, I find the contact page with the phone’s number, then cover the little camera on the front. I don’t know what the stalker has set up, maybe he can see and hear everything through this phone.

I hold the phone against my side and lean in to whisper. “Take a picture of the screen and show it to Blake.”

Robert nods and I hold out the phone, covering the camera. When he takes the picture, I mouth, Thank you.

I don’t know how much time I have, but hopefully knowing this number will help them find me. I hurry down the steps to the first floor and cross the lobby. A car waits on the curb, but I hesitate.

I could keep running until I’m back in their arms.

The front window on the car rolls down slightly. “Ms. Harris?”

I draw in a deep breath and step closer. “Yes?”

“Get in the back.”

I glance back at the building that was my home for years. Movement in the glass on the door captures my attention and I see Robert. He’s taking pictures. I exhale.

Good. Maybe he’ll tell Blake or he’ll call the police. Either way, it’s better than nothing. My gaze returns to the car idling at the curb.

Fuck. This is it. Once I get in, I’m in his hands.

I open the door and slide onto the leather seats. The partition is up and I can’t see the driver or outside. The windows are practically blacked out.

The phone buzzes in my hand and I’m afraid to look.

Unknown:

Good, little one

When a shiver works through me, I straighten the sundress over my knees. There’s nothing I can do while the driver winds down streets. Time passes, but I can’t even tell if we’re still in the city. Trying to keep track of all the turns he makes is impossible. For all I know, we’re driving in circles.

The phone rests on the seat beside me. It could be my lifeline or only the stalker’s connection to me. It could be both. I don’t know what the guys can do with the number if they get it.

Maybe there’s a way to track it, but don’t you need to use it to be trackable? The only number I can communicate with is the stalker’s. This phone is his. He’ll know if I reach out to anyone else. Besides, I don’t have anyone’s number memorized.

There is one thing I want to know.

Me:

Is Hope okay?

Unknown:

She’ll be fine as long as you do what you’re told.
