Tame the Beast : Small Beach Town, Single Mom Romance

And trust me, I have quite a list to compare her to. But not one of the previous girls who happened on my way of life could hold a candle to her with those magnetic brown eyes, makeup-free face, plush lips, and curves for days.

I mean, have you ever seen tits as magnificent as hers? Because I have never had the pleasure and it has been all I could think about. Especially when she sat down, and I had an obstacle free view of her low-cut cleavage.

Talk about instant hard-on.

I noticed her even before she opened the front door to my bar. She was standing outside, contemplating something when I saw her through the windows and used all of my inner will, that my mother has been preaching about since I was born, to send her mental messages to come in and sit at the bar.

It worked. But don’t tell my mom. The woman doesn’t need any more encouragement.

Thank God she’s not here already, plotting and cooking her life away for some new girl in town who just came here and apparently was taken under the local crazies wing.

My condolences.

Because if she saw me now, saw the way my breath hitched as we touched, there would be no more plotting. Nope, she’d go straight to planning our wedding. Like I said, Willa Loverson is obsessed with finding me the love of my life and apparently the whole town is in on it now too.

What they all seem to forget is that I am not interested in marriage and babies. Only good times.

Yet something happened when she brushed her fingers against mine. Something scary.

Probably chemistry. Yeah, our bodies are just trying to clue us in and I’m all ears.

So, I decided right here and now that I must have her. It’s my last night in my hometown before I head back to college and not once during this spring break did I want to take a girl home as badly as I do Sunshine. Not even the brunette I was flirting with a second before she walked in.

And look at that, I even gave her a special nickname already. Something that never happens since usually they are all darlings to me. Why waste my imagination and creativity on someone who won’t be there the next morning, yet when I saw this one, she reeked of that pure sunshine. The kind that can get you through the worst days full of lightning and thunder. And that right there is the first time I’ve ever said anything poetic about a girl.

Fuck…

I am not a poetic kind of a guy. I am the one who is there for the good time. One maybe two nights of wild sex and a kiss goodbye. But something about Sunshine here has me thinking I’ve been doing this life wrong.

Fuck! Wrong train of thought, Matteo. Abort! I repeat, abort!

Yet…

What was that? I am still rubbing my fingers against the palm of my hand when she breaks our eye contact, clears her throat, and takes a sip of the water cocktail I made for her.

Water fucking cocktail. Yes, I’d do just about anything to drink her cocktail later today. And I know she’s interested in that too, but this little touch we shared spooked her. I see it in her eyes, so I gotta get to work. Gotta prove it was nothing, right?

“Can I get you anything else?” I ask, and she shakes her head. Sunshine here is clearly dismissing me but what she doesn’t know yet is that I don’t know how to take a no for an answer.

“Are you visiting our overly loving town or moving here?” I keep asking because I have zero desire to move on to other customers. Someone else can take care of them.

“Visiting.”

Look at that, all the stars are aligning already.

“So, a tourist?” I start wiping the glasses that were just washed so I can at least pretend to be busy.

“You can say that.”

“Is it living up to your expectations?”

“Not sure yet. What is with all these questions?”

“Just trying to get to know you.”

“What if I don’t want to get known.” She frowns, and for a second I contemplate if I chose the right nickname for her.

“Why?” I ask, genuinely curious and she narrows her eyes at me.
