Comp's Chance

“Everything good, brother?” I ask as he takes his seat beside me. He grunts but turns to me.

“I swear I don’t know what the fuck the women are up to, but they’re up to something,” he says as Swift hits the gavel.

“Alright, let’s get this meeting started. We have a few things to cover, and then we can hit the hay. First things first, Rodeo, how is Devil’s Crossroads doing?” he asks as we turn to look at our newest club member.

“Everything’s on the up and up, Prez. We had one incident with Dillion, the new prospect. His baby mama came up to the place starting shit, but we got it taken care of,” he says to the room.

“How is Dillion working out?” Hitter asks, looking back at Rodeo.

“He’s a hell of a worker, always on time, anywhere and everywhere I need him to be. The only issue we’ve had is his baby momma drama, but he’s been able to take care of it for the most part. I told him he needed to straighten that shit out, or he’d be out. He may be a good kid, but somethin’ ain’t right with that woman,” Rodeo says, shaking his head.

“Alright, keep us posted. Make sure he gets help with his baby mama if he needs it. Shouldn’t lose a good prospect over some stupid fucking drama. Next up on the agenda, we haven’t heard anything from Devil’s Cross or Deaths Angels, and something about that ain’t sitting right with me. Neither club is known for sitting still this long. I have some of my contacts keeping ears to the ground, but just watch each other’s six and don’t do something stupid, yeah?” Swift says, making eye contact with everyone in the group. We all agree before moving on.

“Last on the agenda, Comp. We know you’re claiming Sunny as your Ol’ Lady. I also know you don’t want to do that with all her past shit hanging over ya’ll’s head. What’s the latest on her situation?” Swift asks me, and I exhale deeply.

“Unfortunately, Jason’s family ties, family name and money go a long way. He’s still looking for Sunny and Paisley, and luckily, he only seems to suspect they are here. As you know, a couple of his men have been hanging around town. With the girls not going out, it seems Jason is rethinking their location. However, back to those family ties. I can’t get anything to stick on the fucker. It seems every report I’ve gone through, they’ve found a way around it. Doesn’t help, any and all information I send to the local cops gets swept under the rug. We knew that was going to happen, though,” I tell the room.

“We did. Keep sending them shit, though. The more shit we can put into their hands and the more they bury and destroy evidence, the more we can tie to them. I’m still trying to get it into the right hands, but I’ve got a lead on someone who could help. I’ll let you know when I have something,” Swift tells me. I know he has contacts all over the fucking world, but I have a feeling this job somehow involves some individuals who are closely connected to this club… but that’s not my story to tell or my contact to snitch.

“Sounds good, Prez. I’m still working my magic. Something isn’t adding up. I just can’t put my finger on it. Something’s niggling at the back of my mind, but no amount of computer information is digging anything new up,” I say, getting frustrated. I can’t seem to get anything concrete to stick, not to mention I’m still having shit luck with my cousin’s case.

I have one amazing skill, well, besides beating the shit out of assholes and making them disappear, and that’s computers. With no new information or leads, I’m feeling pretty fucking useless.

“Don’t beat yourself up, brother. Sometimes, things are out of even our reach. We’ll get this all sorted out soon. I know you’re having a hard time with Sunny and Paisley being cooped up,” Swift tells me, and I give him a chin lift in acknowledgment.

“Well, if we have nothing else to discuss, we’ll end…”

We all jump to our feet, racing out of the room as a scream rips through the clubhouse. What the fuck is going on? The clubhouse, hell, the whole compound is more fucking secure than Fort Knox. Since the last couple of instances of people getting on the property one way or another, me, Piper, and Devon have upped our security substantially. Actually, I heard the new prospect Dillon is a whiz at that shit too. Might need to pull his ass in on this… but first, to find out what the fuck is happening.

We all finally get to the top of the basement stairs, hearing a tiny whimper. I swear the stairs are going to crumble under all our booted feet. When we reach the bottom of the stairs, my first thought is…

I’m going to fucking murder them all!

Twenty-Two

SUNNY

“Okay, they are all in church. We have about an hour before they come looking for us,” Piper whispers as we meet in the common room. The kids are in my room watching Encanto and nearly asleep. The women and I have other plans.

“I got the snacks,” I whisper-yell to them.

“I got the alcohol,” Izzy says, holding up four bottles. One tequila, jack, bourbon, and one that looks suspiciously like moonshine… not the Tennessee legal moonshine. The real deal, moonshine. This is going to be a good night.

“I already set up the ropes, mats, and equipment downstairs,” Halle says with an evil smile.

“And I got this!” Piper says, holding up a long black cigarette-looking thing.

“FUCK YES WOMAN! Where did you get a blunt?” Halle squeals, racing toward Piper.

“Shoo! You’re going to alert the guys. You know they have supersonic hearing!” Piper says, grinning. “I may or may not have raided Cutter’s room. He doesn’t stay here much, but always has a stash.”

“Uhh… guys, not to be a party pooper, but I’ve never smoked before,” Izzy says, wringing her hands as best as she can with her arms loaded down with booze.

“Me either,” I tell her, squeezing her arm before turning back to Piper and Izzy and smiling mischievously. “But the kids are taken care of and put to sleep. I’m ready to forget all the bullshit of my life. I get first hit,” I say, and we all laugh, walking down the stairs to the torture basement.

“Holy shit!” Piper and I say, stopping at the bottom of the stairs and holding onto Izzy’s arms.

“Halle! How the hell did you get all this done in time without Loki finding out?” Piper asks, looking around the room.
