Coop shrugs. “You’re the one dating another woman.”
“I’m not dating her. We’re going out to appease our parents and to keep the press from thinking we’re all doing exactly what we’re actually doing with Madison.” Noah’s gaze flicks to mine with an apologetic look.
I take his hand and squeeze. I know the deal. We need to get the press to believe what they see is true. I’m engaged to Coop, and the others are all single or dating someone else. Though I’d be proud to have all of these men as mine in real life outside of our apartment.
“We should do it then.” Coop draws my back against him and wraps his arm around me possessively. “I should take my fiancée out on dates more often.”
I rest my head against his chest. My eyes snag on the ring on my finger. He insisted I wear it today. After all, no one will be getting laid. Not with my cramps. So no eye gouging to worry about.
I release a breath. “Yes, it would definitely make a statement if we all went out together.”
And I’d be able to make sure Sara isn’t trying to move in on Noah. I trust Noah, but I also know what a catch he is. Sara would be crazy not to fall for him and try to lure him away.
With a sigh, I text her back.
Me:
That sounds great.
Sara:
Can’t wait! I’ll text Noah now.
Noah’s phone buzzes on the coffee table. Coop and I look at him expectantly. Noah sighs and picks up his phone. He types briefly. What did she send him? Did she tell him she had a great time at the benefit? Did she apologize for leaving with another man?
My insides twist a little. He loves me, but he can’t have all of me. Will that be a deal-breaker?
When he finishes typing, his phone buzzes and he nods. When he lifts his gaze to mine, his eyes soften. He holds out his phone to me. “Here.”
I hesitate for a moment, knowing I should trust him. And I do.
He grabs my hand and puts the phone in it. “You don’t need to worry, kitten. I’m yours.”
I glance down at the text conversation.
Sara:
Thank you for Friday night. I hoped we could go out again.
Sara:
Thursday dinner? With Madison and Coop.
Sara:
Madison said it was okay.
Noah:
Thursday sounds good. You got home okay Friday night?
Sara:
Yeah, thanks for understanding. Dante can be very demanding.
Noah:
Did our ploy work?
