Her breath releases harshly against my lips, and for a second I consider leaning in and taking them. Sliding my hand beneath that silky fabric and finding the softest part of her, slick with her arousal.
I raise an eyebrow and give her a wolfish grin before I retreat. “You’re stunning and everyone will want you. They’ll be envious of me for having you.”
She takes the necklace between her fingers and rubs the diamond pendant. “I only want you four.”
“And tonight, you’ll have all four of us, once this is over and done.”
Her eyes sparkle as they meet mine.
“That doesn’t mean I won’t take advantage of having you to myself in the meantime.”
Madison
I press my thighs together at the ache Coop causes. He left his hair loose tonight and it falls to his shoulders in a dark, silky curtain. His usual clean and crisp scent fills my head with indecent thoughts about him and me and what we could do if that partition were in place.
He smirks as he brings my hand to his lips again. Kissing, licking, and teasing my fingers. He’s dressed in a tuxedo that fits him like it was specifically designed for his body. I have no doubt it was.
My pulse picks up again. Fuck. This is the world Coop grew up in. I feel like I’m playing dress-up in someone else’s clothes. Like this is a huge game of pretend and everyone will realize I’m not supposed to be here.
Coop drags his teeth across my wrist, and my mind goes blank as my body pulses with need. I want to crawl onto his lap and let him have his way with me. But I also don’t want to show up to the benefit looking ravished.
The car comes to a stop, and Coop’s blue eyes find mine.
“You ready, sweetheart?”
Swallowing, I look out the window at the museum steps. Cameras flash and people are everywhere. I open my clutch and pull out the small mirror. My hand trembles slightly as I check my earrings, my necklace, my makeup.
Coop pushes my hand holding the mirror down. “You look stunning, Madison. You’re ready.”
When his door opens, he slides out and I take a deep breath. I can do this.

The car stops in front of a three-story brownstone on a quiet street. This is the address Sara Morris sent me in the many texts we exchanged. I hate doing this. She seems so eager and excited about our “date,” and I just want to snuggle on the couch with Madison while we read.
The driver puts the car in park. With a heavy sigh, I get out and walk to the door. Ringing the doorbell, I glance around. The noise of the city seems far off on this street. It’s quiet and nice.
The door opens, and a little girl of about six years old looks up at me with a shy smile.
“Are you here for my mommy?” She grins up at me with her hands clasped behind her back. “Are you going to be my new daddy?”
My mouth drops open. What the hell?
“Caitlyn, go find Mom.” A slender hand grabs the door, and the little girl giggles before running off. The voice yells after her, “And you aren’t supposed to answer the door.”
The door opens more, revealing a petite woman with strawberry blond hair pulled into an updo. Her dress is black with simple lines that follow her slender body down to black heels. I lift my gaze to her pixie-like face with fine features and big green eyes.
She smiles. “Sorry about that. My sister Caitlyn is a little demon spawn who gets away with murder since she was completely unplanned and unexpected. I’m Sara, and you’re the unlucky guy who has to take me to the benefit.”
I clear my throat. “Unlucky?”
“Look, I know your mother set this up. So did mine.” Stepping out onto the stoop, she closes the door softly behind her. She lifts her gaze to me. “Let’s just have a good time and check this off the setup list for the next few months.”
“I honestly don’t know what to say to that.” I run my hand through my blond hair, probably messing up my attempt at styling.
