Seth gave me a few looks while I finished helping him with dinner. It’s probably written all over my face how much I love her. I don’t really care anymore. They can believe I’m weak for giving in to my feelings. For not hiding what she makes me feel. But loving her makes me strong.
Even knowing she doesn’t love just me makes me love her even more. Because while I know they won’t always be stingy with their love, these three are broken and need more than just a feeling to believe in what they feel. But she loves them anyway.
I know she’ll fill those holes in their hearts, if they’ll let her.
I worry about Coop though. He collects pretty things, but he always lets them go. I just hope he isn’t doing that with Madison because that could destroy her.
Coop comes out first and drops into his chair at the table. “Mother called.”
I walk over with the plates and set them down. “Not happy about the engagement news or the potential grandchild?”
“Neither.” He grins woefully and shakes his head. “You’d think she’d be happy to be a grandmother at last.”
Blake sets a beer in front of Coop before he takes his seat with a beer of his own. “She wants to meet Madison?”
Coop’s eyes lift to mine with a knowing look. “Of course.”
I cringe. I’ve been to Victoria’s meetings before. Even Leighton cried after dinner with Coop’s mother. No one is good enough for her only son. While she puts him on a pedestal that no one could possibly reach, she makes him regret every decision he makes for himself by withholding her approval. He stopped trying to win her love long ago.
But she still has that hold over him.
“I’m not putting Madison through that.” Coop shakes his head and drinks his beer.
“Are you calling off the engagement?” I sink into my seat across from him. I’m ambivalent about it either way. Their “engagement” won’t stop me from claiming her as mine.
“Nope.” Coop runs a hand through his wet hair. “We’ll let the old lady stew for a little. Prove there’s no baby on the way. Then maybe she’ll be calm enough to handle meeting Madison.”
“Who’s meeting me?” She glides toward the table in a silky nightgown that barely covers her ass. Her hard nipples poke at the fabric, making my cock tighten. She’s all mine tonight. I might leave on that nightgown. It’ll be pretty bound against her body with rope.
“No one right now, sweetheart.” Coop winks at her and her face flushes.
At least she got to come a few times already to take the edge off, because tonight, I’ll punish her for letting them make her climax today. Torment her while filling her with my cum until she can’t take it anymore and begs for release. Then maybe I’ll give it to her. Maybe.
Her fingers trail over my shoulders as she passes me to take her seat. “You look pleased.”
“I get you to myself later, kitten.” I catch her hand and bring her knuckles to my lips. “It’s been a while since we got to play alone.”
Her eyes flare with heat. She’ll be mine and mine alone tonight in my room. Locked tight.
Her breath catches as I release her hand. She takes her seat and presses her thighs together. Coop is right—she is a needy little slut. But she’s our needy little slut.
“Is Victoria going to be a problem?” Seth sits at the head of the table next to Madison. He scoops dinner onto her plate first.
“No.” Coop leans back. “She wants to meet Madison, but I can hold her off for a while.”
Madison’s eyebrows go up at that, but she doesn’t say anything. None of us have really talked about our relationships outside of this one and maybe with a few of the women in the past. Our family lives are complicated.
“My mother would love you.” I fill my plate. “Once she got over the fact that you aren’t the woman she set me up with.”
“We have that double date on Thursday.” Madison picks a little at her food. “Will it disappoint your mother when you and Sara stop dating?”
I pause with my fork halfway to my mouth. There’s a hint of bite in Madison’s tone. Seth told her about dating Elizabeth today. Coop isn’t willing to introduce her to his mother, even if she’s his fiancée. And Blake hasn’t said anything.
Fuck. Security is important. Almost as important as love.
“Protecting you is my priority. Sara and I might see each other for a while in public, just until the scrutiny dies down.” I hate to hurt Madison more, but I won’t lie to her. “We can all talk together on Thursday. Sara will assure you she doesn’t want me that way, any more than I want her.”
Madison finally lifts her eyes to meet mine. Doubt lingers in them. Of any of us to be jealous about dating, I should be the last one she worries about. I don’t date much because the opportunity doesn’t come up that frequently. Well, setups exist, but I don’t want those women my mother pushes at me. They’re all looking for a rich husband, not me.
